Experiencing Lead Time Challenges?

9th April 2020 | In Global Logistics

Anyone at the sharp end of an IT project or working in IT procurement will have seen usual lead times spiral over the past month. For bespoke offerings there is little we can do other than push out the deployment dates and try and struggle on.

However, with systems where we can be more flexible, some things can be done to help.

SOURCING:
  • The default route to sourcing is retail sealed equipment, however with stock in constraint we can also look at approved used, manufacturer refurbished and manufacturer spares
  • If we can be flexible this gives us a much bigger pool to obtain the parts
  • As every server or storage array supplied by Hardware ships via our configuration team, we can use this technical expertise to rebuild equipment purchased to match customer specification
FLEXIBILITY:

If we can use a different CPU and/or a different RAM configuration we can drop lead times dramatically, and by balancing the RAM and CPU carefully we may even see a combined performance increase / cost decrease.

The same rules can equally be applied to client machines as for Enterprise Server and Storage.

We’ve had an increasing number of clients talking to us around client devices; Laptops, Desktop / Thin Clients and Monitors. These are the essentials in keeping the economy working in the current climate. Whilst we’ve always supplied these products, we’re known ultimately for our infrastructure solutions, but as Premium Partners for Dell, HP and Lenovo, we can add value to these as well.

If you’ve had issues sourcing laptops or other end-client devices we can help – If you need advice on the best machine for a specific user-type then again we can assist you.

We understand someone needing a "desktop replacement" Notebook has different requirements from an employee who commutes by train and needs portability.

Likewise knowing the HP, Dell and Lenovo ranges means we can always suggest alternatives that you might not have considered. Whilst HP’s Elitebook 840 range is a great product, if you don’t need a docking port and can use a Port Replicator instead, the ProBook 440 is a budget-friendly alternative and offers the same level of performance.

Aside from stocking new products from the Tier 1 manufacturers, we can supply official recertified products from the Vendors we cover. These offer the assurance of official manufacturer warranty with a significant cost saving.

Try us out on your next client device purchase and experience the same level of detail we put into our Networking, Server and Storage solutions.
