Vertica, a Hewlett-Packard company, announced along with Capgemini, “that the companies are partnering to deliver service offerings that address the growing need for cost-effective real-time
analytics of Big Data.”
For more and more organizations, the comprehensive ability to process, analyse and manipulate data to do it quickly and well is becoming critical to their aim, mission and competitiveness. Therefore advanced “analytics” are becoming increasingly important for many industries.
Capgemini, is an international company based in France which names itself “one of the world’s foremost providers of consulting, technology and outsourcing services”.Capgemini is launching a variety of Big Data Analytic offerings for its customers one of these first services to be released in North America is geared towards improving the performance of analytics for its customers.
Capagemini chose Vertica, which bills itself as “a leading real-time analytics platform” as a new partner. Within HP’s press release Colin Mahony, senior vice president and general manager, Vertica/HP, was quoted stating, “Organizations struggle with turning massive amounts of structured, semi structured and unstructured data into business insights, cost effectively and in near real time”.
Mahony further went onto say, “We’re working with Capgemini to give our joint customers the ability to leverage Big Data insights into innovative products, services and offers that drive competitive advantage”.
Adding to this initial service offering programmed towards improving analytics performance, the two companies aim to offer Big Data services for “Marketing and Social Media” which will help companies make the most of their web and social media data, and “Predictive Maintenance” using HP Vertica’s “aggressive compression” which will help companies reduce their hardware costs while also snowballing the amount of data they can store at low cost on scalable systems using product hardware.
