Job Purpose

  • To be a source of technical expertise to sales staff.
  • To be able to discuss and design solutions for a wide range of technical ICT projects within the Small/Medium business, Enterprise and Service Provider sector.
  • To contribute to complex and diverse bids and projects within the networking arena for a broad range of multi vendor solutions (primarily Cisco).
  • Provide technical expertise to support ongoing ICT projects and network implementation.
  • Provide technical support to internal development teams with regard to the corporate website.

Responsibilities

A strong professional communicator, providing technical support to account managers and sales staff, handling pre-sales discussions with customers, on-site meetings with clients to develop solutions, accurately and promptly answering technical queries and managing/allocating implementation teams.
  • Provision of critical technical expertise in the ICT discipline and associated fields.
  • Building and maintaining excellent relationships with external customers.
  • To be able to communicate technically with external professionals on an equal standing, to give advice and to seek future opportunities.
  • To provide operational support and training to meet the business need.
  • To provide support to internal development teams.
  • To be a mentor and provide guidance to less experienced staff including junior engineers and sales staff.
  • To be highly committed and self motivated with a desire to contribute to the success of the business.
  • To demonstrate enthusiasm for change and the capability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Have sound judgement capabilities, to enable appropriate decisions to be made under pressure based on a variety of sources of information.
  • To keep abreast of new technology and methods in the ICT field.

Skills Required

  • Industry certifications: minimum CCNP, CCVP, CCSP or equivalent.
  • 3 years experience in either a pre-sales engineering role or a customer facing technical role.
  • Experience of designing and building IT networks including hardware specification and implementation.
  • Experience and understanding of Cisco ISR routers and related modules, Cisco Catalyst workgroup and modular switches, Cisco security products and IPT technologies.
  • Experience of Cisco Voice products including Unified Communications Manager, Unity and Voice Gateways/Access Servers.
  • Demonstrable broad, practical knowledge of ICT technologies and full project cycle implementation.
  • Ability to grasp complex IT networking and software issues, and articulate those at a business level and within technical documents.
  • Ability to report clearly on events both verbally and in written form, including good technical specification and report writing skills, applicable to a broad audience at all levels of seniority, both internally and externally.
  • A general understanding of project management systems and processes including the full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to produce and deliver presentations professionally to internal and external customers for bid, project review and training purposes.
  • Computer literate. A competent user of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Visio and Project) or similar packages.

Desirable Experience

  • Have established contacts with suppliers and contractors in the ICT field.
  • Experience of Cisco Unified Communications portfolio.
  • Experience of large scale security solutions.
  • Experience of Juniper, Force10, F5, NetAPP, VMware, Extreme, HP Procurve and Foundry products.
  • CCIE or equivalent.
